This is Real (2): Pre-Departure Briefing in Jakarta

Last Saturday, July 30 2016, the Neso Indonesia conducted a gathering called pre-departure briefing.  All new students coming to Netherlands in the near future were invited to hear more about whar to expect when we arrive in Holland.

That was a pretty packed event where, if I am not mistaken, more than 300 participants attend; the largest in the knowledge of Pak Mervin Baker.  He's the boss in Neso, for you who do not know who he is.

Anyway.. I arrived around 8:50 and almost everybody were already in Erasmus Huis' yard.  That was scary because I myself still in disbelieve that I am going to study in Netherlands starting September and I don't have my MVV finalized yet hahaha..  And everybody seemed to know everybody elses.  So naturally I frantically called Risa, a fellow NFP awardee, locating her presence while trying hard to compose myself.  I finally found her and we went to a table with a written signage: Den Haag.

The event itself was done in the auditorium.  It went well despite technical and technological error.  You know.. the microphone, the beamer, the internet connection.. the usual thing.  Technology always fails us, rite!?  I found the wefie with Pre-Dep event in Vietnam super hilarious, because they were so shocked looking at hundreds of us!  And they all look so yoooouuuung...  Plus: they prepared some Bahasa Indonesia catch phrases while we did not!  Oh and we had to look at their backs during wefie hahahaha...

Anyway.. although information were give here and there, to me the event helps me to ease anxiety on social adjustment.  In the down side, it added fear to how I have to live day by day studying and achieving academic standard in ISS.  I am not against the way our seniors open up about many layers of academic life, it is just me in the midst of heavy stress and many deadline. (Did I share that my laptop crashed and I lost everything in it previous Wednesday!?  Yeah.. now we're talking about stress *sigh*).  When I cannot think straight, I am just numb and miserable.

Here is the only picture I took from the event:

Oh and did I tell you that I answered almost 95% correct during yellow cap quiz!? hahaha..

xoxo,
nana
