She is One of a Kind

Last week when I was on my flight back home, I got Jakarta Post Weekender in my front pocket.  That's not a complimentary thing from GA I know, there must be someone left it unintentionally.  Yeah... unintentionally.  I think Weekender is something people want to keep for quite sometimes and not just left it in an aircraft (or not??? heheh)

Anyway.. I found interesting thing about Yayuk Basuki there.  She's one of the most prominents tennis players from Indonesia.  I think she's still the best, number one, in my country.  She's now coaching young players in Hongkong instead of continou her contract with Persatuan Tenis (something like that).

I believe many people have complain about her being there instead of joing the national team.  I am not one of them I suppose.  Yeah I kinda understand why people want to go if they feel they are not wanted anymore :)

About her being away she said, she uses to do since the very young age.  She was already away from parents when she had to join Sekolah Atlet in ragunan to pursue her tennis dream.  She was still 9 yo at that time!  One thing struck my attention is when she said: family is okay with her being away, especially with technology nowadays distance is becoming less significant.

I was thinking for quite sometimes after reading that statement.  As a matter of fact at that time of flight, I was about to go back to Indonesia because I cannot anymore deal with distance.  This is only based on my personal short experience, that distant really killing me.  I used to use YM, Skype, blackberry messanger, etc to short cut my distant with si pacar.  But to me those are proven to be ineffective at all.
I am like going back to old school song said that a telephone can't take the place of his smile.  YM video calls can't take his touch and kisses.  And I am just too weak to bear that.  I was mentally troubled when away that jeopardize my relationship.  LDR is definately not my thing.  It's hard, and technology is not making it easier.

So I admire Mbak Yayuk for her state of mind towards distance.  I've been there and done that, so I know that she's beyond my league.  That short of interview really shows me that she is super special.  No wonder she's our national champion and not Angelique Wijaya.  I guess a champion need extra strong nerve and determination.  She is really one of my heroine :)

Mbak Yayuk, aku padamu :p
